There are thousands of religions in the world, but many religions have common elements; behaviors to be practiced, important dates, rituals, holy books, and standards of proper behavior. Religions are often divided into three types--those with a belief in one god, those with a belief in more than one god, and those with a belief in divine forces in nature. This unit will focus on five major world religions: Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism. Students will analyze the similarities and differences in the religions from a historical stand point. They will learn of the origins of each religion and the traditions/beilefs each hold.
